Results, toppers and reports

How a result is computed

For scored programmes:

1. Each judge scores out of their maximum.
2. Scores are summed across judges into the entry's total.
3. Percentage = total ÷ the sum of the judges' maximums × 100.
4. The grade is the grade-criteria band that percentage falls in.
5. Totals are ranked into positions, with ties resolved by the lead judge's marks. Position criteria turn each rank into position points.
6. Points = position points + grade points. The programme's candidate % and team % are then applied separately.

For duos and groups, candidate points are shared: a solo entry gives the candidate 100%, a duo gives each member 50%, and a group of three or more gives no individual points and counts for the team only. The team always receives full team points.

Generate results (Results, or the programme workbench) writes all of this at once. It refuses to regenerate over results that are already published.

Releasing results

Generating a result does not publish it. Results → Release results is where results go public:

1. Ready to release lists every programme with generated, unpublished results.
2. Give the release a name, such as Morning Session Results, and tick the programmes to include.
3. The Live impact preview shows how each team's points will change before anything is published.
4. Publish. The results go live on the website and in the team panel, and count in the standings.

Published programmes lists what's already live. Any programme can be unpublished again from there. Publishing and unpublishing both regenerate the published toppers automatically.

Toppers

Results → Toppers holds configured leaderboards: top five candidates per category, ranked by percentage of the category's point cap, house championship, and so on.

• A leaderboard is a definition. Its rows are computed when you regenerate, not on every read. The page says when a leaderboard has gone stale against the last published result, and offers one button to fix it.
• Published shows standings from released results, and is what the website serves. Total is computed live and includes entered-but-unreleased results. It's never stored or shown publicly.
• Rows an organiser pins by hand survive regeneration.
• Group results count: every member for a candidate standing, the team once for a team standing.

Point adjustments and appeals

• Point adjustments add or deduct points for a candidate or a team, for a penalty or a bonus, with a reason. Reports and toppers include them.
• Appeals record and resolve challenges to a result.

Reports

Results → Reports gives seven views of the same results: overview, team-wise, student-wise, programme-wise, category-wise, institution-wise, and a flat result sheet. Every figure is computed from results plus adjustments, never from a stored total. Every row opens the detail behind the number, and every report, including any single programme's result sheet, prints to A4 in one click.
